Air Quality Monitoring System

Air Quality Monitoring System (AQMS) is a system used to measure, monitor, and analyze the quality of air in a specific area. These systems are crucial for ensuring the safety of the environment and human health by tracking pollutants, particulate matter, and gases present in the atmosphere. AQMS are commonly used in urban areas, industrial zones, and remote locations to understand and control air pollution levels.

1. Sensors/Detectors:

   • The primary components of an AQMS are the sensors or detectors that measure various pollutants in the air. These sensors can detect:
     • Particulate Matter (PM): Small particles suspended in the air, such as PM2.5 (particles less than 2.5 micrometers) and PM10 (particles less than 10 micrometers).
     • Gases: Gaseous pollutants like carbon monoxide (CO), sulfur dioxide (SO₂), nitrogen dioxide (NO₂), ozone (O₃), and volatile organic compounds (VOCs).
     • Ozone: Ozone sensors measure both ground-level ozone, which is harmful, and ozone in the upper atmosphere (stratosphere), which protects against UV rays.
     • Carbon Dioxide (CO₂): CO₂ sensors monitor the levels of carbon dioxide, which can indicate air quality and overall environmental health.
